³º Italian band HELLCIRCLES originally began in º ³
³º 2008, slowly carving their own sound through a º ³
³º self-financed demo “Stillness” in 2009 that º ³
³º gained great press in all the relevant domestic º ³
³º metal magazines. After their first record deal º ³
³º with the UK label Rising Records fell apart due º ³
³º to financial troubles on the label’s part, the º ³
³º band ceased activities for a year while º ³
³º resolving their contract issues. Finally in late º ³
³º 2013, Valery Records came to the table and the º ³
³º quintet finally get to release their debut º ³
³º album, the 10 track “Prelude to Decline”. º ³
³º º ³
³º Stylistically the band has a lot in common with º ³
³º the harder edge power metal bands that beef º ³
³º things up with thicker triplets, cultural/ epic º ³
³º harmonies, and occasional bursts of speed/ º ³
³º thrash drumming. As a vocalist Marco Parisi has º ³
³º a multi-octave attack, occasionally hitting Ralf º ³
³º Scheepers/ Roberto Tiranti –like bird call º ³
³º screams, but often preferring to stay around a º ³
³º middle level more in common for people who love º ³
³º BLIND GUARDIAN or BRAINSTORM. His keyboard work º ³
³º dazzles as well in a neo-classical fashion a la º ³
³º STRATOVARIUS or like fellow domestic act VISION º ³
³º DIVINE – check out his solo flourish in “Take or º ³
³º Give Up” for instance. º ³
³º The guitar and vocal harmonies elevate º ³
³º HELLCIRCLES to immediate professional status – º ³
³º as this band understands that you need to º ³
³º deliver hooks in any manner possible. Be it a º ³
³º slower, almost power ballad arrangement with º ³
³º “Like a Hero” or the IRON MAIDEN-oriented º ³
³º mystical riffs throughout closer “Release Your º ³
³º Pride” – the series of thunderous dual º ³
³º synchronized parts or spot on vocal harmonies º ³
³º (along with the occasional death growls) give º ³
³º the listener plenty to latch on to, head bang, º ³
³º or air guitar in unison as the music pours from º ³
³º your speakers. º ³

³º And speaking of special guests, it doesn’t hurt º ³
³º to have PRIMAL FEAR singer Ralf Scheepers º ³
³º singing in a co-vocal capacity on “Our Drawing”, º ³
³º bringing him back to his early GAMMA RAY years. º ³
³º Good things come to those who wait- and I feel º ³
³º “Prelude to Decline” is a premiere release for º ³
³º those who love a lot of Italian traditional and º ³
³º power metal without a lot of the pre-fabricated º ³
³º ‘happy’ melodies or incessant high gear º ³
³º arrangements that make every track º ³
³º indistinguishable. º ³
