New Worlds is een Britse serie van de zender Channel 4. De serie ging in premiere in 2014.

Vierdelige serie gesitueerd in 1680, over twee jonge mannen en twee jonge vrouwen die op zoek zijn naar een beter leven en een betere toekomst voor henzelf. New Worlds vertelt verhalen over verlies, liefde en welke prijs de mensheid heeft moeten betalen om te kunnen genieten van de vrijheden waarvan wij nu genieten.


Channel 4 new Tuesday night drama New Worlds was billed as a sequel to the 2008 drama The Devil s Whore, in which Andrea Riseborough and John Simm shone bright as a passionate 17th-century pair whose beliefs drew them right to the epicentre of the Civil War in England.

New Worlds is a gripping story of love, loss and the human price paid for the freedoms and liberties we enjoy today. We follow the fortunes of four young people: Beth, Hope, Abe and Ned, from across both sides of the Atlantic, caught up in these turbulent times. We see them struggle as they are torn between love and ideals in the harsh reality of the changing world. 

In England, the restored monarchy of Charles II has betrayed its promises and reverted to tyranny. Behind the decadence of the Court, a terror machine is repressing the freedoms won for the people with so much blood during the Civil War of England when Charles I was executed.

In America, the tentacles of state terror reach the English colonists of New England who are struggling to throw off the shackles of the English Crown. At the same time the colonists are ruthlessly staking their claim to the territories occupied by the Native American Indians, and shedding much of the American Indian s blood in the process, in a chilling echo of the tyrannical behaviour that they sought to escape from when they crossed the Atlantic.

Part Three
Beths journey to begin a new life ends abruptly when her ship is wrecked on the shores of Massachusetts. Discovered by Masca, leader of the Native American Wawanaki tribe, she is taken in and slowly recovers. When Ned returns to Boston, he is dismayed to find Hope stuck in a loveless marriage to Henry Cresswell, who is on a ruthless mission to build a new settlement on the tribes land. Back in England, Abe Goffes fight for justice takes a new turn when he encounters maidservant Agnes, who provokes him to search out Colonel Algernon Sidney, one of his fathers old republican comrades. With him he plots to assassinate the king, but will they succeed?

Part Four
When news of Charles IIs death reaches Boston, Beth decides its time to return to England. As she makes her way to Oxford, she is reunited with Abe, who has escaped from his jail cell and dedicated his life to spreading Colonel Sidneys revolutionary ideas. Meanwhile, Ned and Hope lead a group of young Bostonians fighting for an independent America.
