³º Originally developing a series of demos in the º ³
³º early 1980’s, Dutch Traditional Metal band EAR º ³
³º DANGER didn’t release their debut album “Full º ³
³º Blast at Last” until 2011. The current lineup º ³
³º includes two original members in bassist Matt º ³
³º Verschoor and drummer Dick Vijgen along with two º ³
³º younger musicians in vocalist/ guitarist Leon º ³
³º Lohmann and guitarist Ivo Metz. Spurred on by º ³
³º the gigs and success of this full length, the º ³
³º quartet decided to write another set of songs º ³
³º and release a follow up – so let’s see if º ³
³º “Warrior Soul” can hold up to the standard the º ³
³º band has pushed forth. º ³
³º º ³
³º Stylistically EAR DANGER prefer playing close to º ³
³º the NWOBHM vest – soaring vocals, easy on the º ³
³º ear/ shout a long choruses, guitars and bass º ³
³º leading the music charge while the drumming has º ³
³º this youthful energy to raise fists and chants. º ³
³º The title track opens the proceedings, a º ³
³º glorious rally cry for the cause, the lead break º ³
³º in line with speedier RAVEN – while the follow º ³
³º up “Star Illusion” has a boat load of JUDAS º ³
³º PRIEST elements in the opening two riffs that º ³
³º nick “Rapid Fire” from the “British Steel” º ³
³º album.s º ³
³º º ³
³º Leon may not be the most pitch perfect singer, º ³
³º but a lot of times in this genre attitude can º ³
³º more than make up for deficiencies – and I º ³
³º believe his sharp metal intuition matches up º ³
³º well to the semi-gallops, classic 80’s hooks, º ³
³º and general rocking material at hand. Check out º ³
³º “I Am Your Enemy” and “Crusader” for his charm, º ³
³º something that I could have easily pictured º ³
³º coming from 1981-1983. And the cover art is as º ³
³º ‘Traditional Metal’ as you can get- a clear º ³
³º indication that their lifelong commitment will º ³
³º not waver. º ³
³º º ³
³º I can picture this band galvanizing the younger º ³
³º metal bands to keep the purity of the genre at º ³
³º heart when they create new material. “Warrior º ³
³º Soul” is another fantastic record, and I’m so º ³
³º glad that EAR DANGER kept the faith – as the º ³
³º long journey is paying off. º ³
