Barney (Sylvester Stallone), Christmas (Jason Statham) en de rest van het team komen oog in oog te staan met Conrad Stonebanks (Mel Gibson), die jaren geleden samen met Barney de mede-oprichter was van 'The Expendables'. Stonebanks is later een meedogenloze wapenhandelaar geworden waardoor Barney hem noodgedwongen heeft moeten doden, tenminste dat dacht hij. Stonebanks, die aan de dood ontsnapte, heeft het plan opgevat om een einde te maken aan het team van The Expendables. Barney heeft echter hele andere plannen.
