Xystus was founded in 1999 by school mates Ivo van Dijk (drums,synths) and Bas Dolman 
(vocals,guitar).Soon Tim van Dijk joined the group on bass and Xystus began gigging locally.
After recording three demos,they released their full-length debut Receiving Tomorrow in 2004.
This album was well received by the Dutch press and Xystus began opening for acts like Epica 
and Kamelot, and also playing numerous festivals that allowed them to tour Europe and garner 
more exposure. Tim van Dijk left the band and a more stable line-up was established with new 
members Bob Wijtsma (guitar) and Mark Brekelmans (bass).In 2007 Xystus released their 
album Surreal, in 2008 followed by the album Equilibrio.
