Between 1955 and 1975, hundreds of artists from the United States and from Great Britain, recorded German language versions of their original hits. Some even recorded German originals. Without any knowledge of the German language, recording artists were simply sensing the meaning of the lyrics. Artists like Johnny Cash, Gene Pitney and Petula Clark, and even bands like the Spencer Davis Group, the Searchers or the Merseybeats had to deliver masters for the German-speaking market. A highly entertaining CD-series. There are a lot of obscure, funny, and truly original songs to be discovered.
